The Druze community are suffering violent persecution.

Since mid-July 2025, throughout the Suweida area over 1,800 have been killed and around 500 kidnapped, including many women and children.

In green on the map, are the first north-western villages to be attacked and burned, forcing families to flee towards the city center and south-eastern villages. Each village marked red now hosts from dozens to over 1000 displaced persons.

Suweida city is marked in yellow. It was attacked also, even the main hospital and city infrastructure. It now has 70 official shelter centers, but many more displaced families are staying with relatives or acquaintances—sometimes more than seven families in one house. Displaced families and host families are in desperate need of help.

Dada Hariish, based in Damascus, has been supporting teams inside the siege area and managed to send food and clothes when the road was briefly opened for an aid convoy before being closed again.

Didi Hladini, based in Tartous has also been supporting those inside the Suweida area. She has been implementing AMURT/AMURTEL telephone credit top-ups to ensure communication for affected families.

AMURT has partnered with Sanad, a German NGO dedicated to work in Suweida. Working together, AMURT and Sanad are able to have funds immediately advanced for relief inside the Suweida siege area.

Despite the conditions, 3 local AMURT and AMURTEL volunteer teams are active on the ground in Suweida city and Qanawat, distributing food and non-food items to around affected 800 people on a regular basis. They are calling for support in order to purchase more distribution materials.
